Hello everyone. Been a while, hasn’t it?
I’m not quite sure why it’s taken me so long to get around to dropping an update in here, probably the longest gap between posts on the blog’s nearly 15-year history. There’s been a lot to write about over the last year and a half since my last post, and I hope to finally get around to sharing the stories with you all before too much longer.
There’s been races, there’s been some cracking new pairs of running shoes (Adidas EVO SL and Nike Vaporfly 3, FTW). There’s been some epic holiday runs, there’s been runs away on work trips. There’s been a new semi-regular tradition of occasionally “running for beer”, leading to some of my favourite runs ever. And, there’s been one of the most wholesome running events I’ve ever taken part in, which I hope to be able to tell you all about just as soon as I’ve felt I’ve done the piece the justice it deserves.
I’ve got a few posts lined up at around 90% complete, yet to see the light of day thanks to a combination of writer’s block, a horrendously busy year of work taking up most of my mental capacity (finally resolved by changing jobs and moving into what feels like a much more positive environment a few weeks ago), and of course, my age-old inability to actually finish anything I’ve started, be it a blog post, a music track, or a piece of DIY around the house.
Anyway, I figured it would be good to crap out a quick update just to let y’all know I’m not dead, and I’m still running, and who knows, maybe posting this will release the pressure valve and all the others will follow behind it in quick haste. The plan for the rest of 2025 is more or less laid out anyway (clue: No More Marathons, ahem) and I should be able to update you on that once I’ve finalised the finer details. Essentially I’m hoping to tick off a challenge that’s been hanging over me for a few years now, so that’ll be nice I guess, with an added bonus of a bit of a charity aspect thrown in for good measure.
